Remember, Tile,
Grout
and
Cement
ARE NOT
WATERPROOF.
Don't be convinced that re-grouting will cure the problem - it won't.
An OverLiner solves the problem. |
Here's why your shower floor is
leaking. When a shower floor is
created in new construction, starting with the rough framing:
1. The shower liner is installed, up 6 " up the
walls and lays on the sub flooring. Whether it is a concrete or plywood
sub floor doesn't matter. The liner is attached to a flange around the
drain pipe making a waterproof seal.
2. Now the walls are installed, using either
drywall or cement backer board to cover the liner on the walls and
curb.
3. Using a cement mixture, the tile setter
pitches the floor to the drain and installs the tile over that
cement mixture. End result is a pitched floor so the water runs to the
drain.
The drawing shows how a
conventional liner really holds "standing water". The distance
from the top of the drain cover to the bottom of the floor has standing
water (water can't drain up).
By applying my OverLiner
over the existing pitched tile floor, no more standing water! That is
the ease of using an OverLiner. |
